The new scheme of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR Tajir Dost Scheme) for Pakistan,  is a step that will help improve the excise compliance of small traders and shopkeepers. It makes the tax process more straightforward to people, increases the grossing base of taxes, and thus leads towards national economic growth. This is basically meant to formalize the tax liability of small units operating at fixed locations, shops and shopping establishments. Given the general essential of the government to increase revenues, the scheme specifically focuses on small traders who normally stayed beyond the formal net. Simplifying tariff compliance for enabling structured monthly payments would facilitate voluntary compliance and enhance economic growth.

  • Broadening the tax base: bringing millions of small traders into the formal economy thereby maximizing government revenue and fiscal accountability among businesses.
  • Encouraging Deliberate Deals: Making compliance easier and more predictable, FBR hopes to bring about a voluntary culture of  payment among traders.
