Independence Day Scholarships Programs
This is an international-level Scholarship programs. As the name shows, this scholarship is opened only on the precious occasion of Independence Day of pakistan, for students who want to enroll in MS and PhD programs abroad.
So the government of Pakistan will award 35 scholarships to the students of MS and 40 Scholarships to the students of PhD. The government will choose the top 25 universities in the world where our Pakistani and AJK students will be studying.
Eligibility Criteria
- The student should belong to pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir
- The enrollment of the student in any of the top 25 or the QS or Times Higher Education universities of the world should be confirmed
- Students must have 16 years of education for the MS scholarship programs and 18 years of education for the HEC PhD scholarship programs
- Students must have a score of at least 3.0 CGPAout of 4 in the semester system and 3.75 CGPA out of 5 or first division if studying in the annual system
- The age limit is 40 years for HEC PhD scholarships for those students who are lecturers at the university and college levels otherwise for the rest of the students the age limit is 35 years.
- The student should not be enrolled in any other scholarship programs and if he or she is already enrolled then he/she has to bring a no-objection certificate from the respective scholarship programs otherwise the student will not be considered eligible.
- Those employees who work in any public sector also have to submit a no-objection certificate from their institute.

When the scholarship programs are available, you will get to see advertisements in the newspaper as well as on the official website of hec then you can apply through your E-portal made on the official website of hec. You have to meet some conditions for applying for this scholarship such as securing admission to one of the top 25 universities and then returning to the country after the completion of the degree and making sure to serve for 3 to 5 years for Pakistan.
Allama Iqbal Scholarship for Afghan Students
It is a scholarships for foreign students specifically the young students of Afghanistan in which approximately 4500 students will be awarded scholarships. The scholarship will be applicable in the following fields,

- Engineering
- Management and computer science
The major aim of this scholarship is to build a strong bond between both countries and to provide quality education to the students of Afghanistan. The scholarship will be available for undergraduate programs, postgraduate programs and PhD degrees and it will not only provide financial aid but also provide the allowance for residence and stationary, and the fee of tuition and university.
Eligibility Criteria
- Those students who want to get admission to an undergraduate program must have 12 years of education with a 60% score in other subjects and 65% in medical and engineering fields. The age limit is 17 to 23.
- Those who want to get admission in postgraduate programs i.e. MS and MPhil, must have 16 years of education with at least 2.5 out of 4 CGPA and the age limit for them is 35 years.
- Those students who want to get admission to PhD programs must have completed 18 years of education and with a CGPA of 3.0 and for them the age limit is 35 to 40 years.

Benazir Undergraduate Scholarship Programs
This scholarship comes under the category of a support program to support those students whose education is stuck till intermediate and who don’t have access to undergraduate programs. This scholarship also includes tuition dues till the end. Undergraduate Scholarship covers the following areas of study which are,

To ensure equality and to specifically promote education for girls, the Benazir scholarship program has reserved 50% of scholarships for girls and the rest for boys. Differently abled students are also under consideration as for them, this scholarship program has reserved a 2% quota.
Eligibility and Ineligibility Criteria
Students must be enrolled in the mentioned programs in the university recognized by the Higher Education Commission. The student must be a deserving one, should belong to a low-income earning family, and the academic record should be good.
The student will be awarded scholarships on merit which means that the admission of the student must be confirmed in the HEC-recognized university. Moreover, the age limit of students is the same as required by any college or university to apply for an undergraduate program.
On the other hand, those students who are already being awarded any other scholarships will not be considered for this scholarship program. Those who are enrolled in an online education system or affiliated institutes are also not eligible.
Moreover, those students who have been enrolled in any two-year degree program and diploma are not eligible as well as students enrolled in ADP programs.
Required Documents
To apply for the scholarships, copies of your and your parents’ CNICs, utility bills, rent agreement (if applicable), medical expenses, siblings’ dues receipts, Guardian’s salary certificate, your passport-size picture, and the picture of your home are necessary documents.
Scholarships Award Process

After successful application, submit hard copies of your original documents to the financial aid office of your educational institute. If you are eligible then the scrutiny committee will add your name to the merit list.
Then there will be an interview and after that applicant will have to sign an agreement that the scholarships will not be transferred to any other institute. The applicant will be awarded the scholarships of rupees 40,000 per year along with tuition fee and the scholarship will also continue for the next semesters.
Coastal Region Higher Education Scholarship Programs For Balochistan
It is a national-level scholarship program where scholarships are awarded to the students of backward cities of Balochistan province to promote education there. There will be different phases of awarding these scholarships.
Phase II scholarship programs are open where 20/80 scholarships will be given to the students of Gwadar District, 10/40 to the students of Lasbela District, 10/40 to the students of Kech District, and 10/40 to the students of Awaran District. A total of 200 scholarships will be awarded till the end of the program.
Eligibility Criteria
Those students who have accomplished their educational requirements of intermediate with a 50% score are eligible to apply for scholarship programs. If they are already enrolled for one year in any undergraduate program still they can apply.
For a successful application, students must have a local domicile, secondary and higher secondary school certificate, and should not be getting any other scholarship. Moreover, the age limit for this scholarship program is 22.
Financial Support
240,000 per year financial aid will be provided to the selected students on merit. Not only this but tuition fees, a living allowance of 15,000 rupees, a stationary and travelling allowance of 30,000 rupees, and 5000 per month to the students of those universities where hostels are not built, will be provided under the scholarships.

Faculty Development Program (FDP) HEC Scholarships Overseas
This is for non-PhD faculty members and allows them to do their PhD degree through overseas HEC Scholarships. These scholarships helps in enhancing the teaching and academic skills of the faculty members which in return will benefit the students of pakistan with their broad views and enhanced teaching skills.
Eligibility Criteria
The faculty who wants to avail of hec overseas scholarship must have the nationality of pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. They must have completed their 18 years of education in the same subject in which they want to avail their HEC Scholarships for PhD in abroad.
Their academic record should contain at least a 3.0 CGPA out of 4 or 75% score in the recent PhD degree program and a 60% score or 2.5 CGPA out of 4 in the recent MS degree program. If the faculty members are doing full-time jobs then their age limit is 35 years while for others it is 30 years. Moreover, they should not be attaining any other scholarships.
HEC Ehsaas Scholarships
This scholarship program was initiated by the former prime minister of Pakistan Imran Khan to give financial aid to students belonging to low-income families. Students who cannot afford the expenses of education, stationary, books, tuition and hostel can get benefit from this program.
Eligibility Criteria
- Students must be enrolled in undergraduate programs
- Students must belong to a family whose monthly earnings are less than 45000 rupees.
- Students belonging to self-support sessions are not eligible.

HEC Need-Based Scholarship
It is a support program scholarships for those talented, young students who cannot afford higher education and are needy and deserving. The need-based scholarship will be awarded to financially disadvantaged students at 100 public higher education institutes. The major goal of this scholarship is to help students get a better education and versatile career opportunities.
Eligibility Criteria
Students must be enrolled in 4-5 undergraduate programs.
They must belong to low-income earning families as the family’s financial background will be considered on a priority basis.
Students enrolled in self-support programs are not eligible for this scholarship program.
How to apply
You can download the need-based scholarships form from the official website of hec or from here as well. Moreover, you can receive it from the financial aid office of your university. After filling out the form with the correct details, submit it back to the office of financial assistance of your university. If you are selected then you will be awarded a scholarship by your university and not by HEC directly.
Provision of Higher Education Opportunities for the Students of Balochistan and FATA (Phase II)
The government of pakistan has decided to give scholarships to the students of undergraduate and postgraduate programs under the project “Provision of Higher Education Opportunities for the Students of Balochistan and FATA”. Students who are at the top of their studies are welcome to apply with their local domicile.
Eligibility Criteria
- Students must have a 60% score in both their intermediate and graduate programs for the postgraduate and undergraduate scholarships.
- The age limit for undergraduate scholarships is 22 years and for postgraduate scholarships is 35 years.

Post Doctoral Fellowship Program
It is a scholarship program for those candidates who have completed their PhD degree from HEC recognized university or from a foreign university. A total of 1000 fellowships will be offered over 5 years so that candidate can pursue their post-doctoral studies.
Eligibility Crietria
- Candidates should be regular employees of the public or private sector institutes.
- They should not have completed any post-doctoral fellowship before.
- Their age limit is 45 years.
- They must have five years of work experience after completing their PhD degree in a foreign.

- Candidates must have the nationality of Pakistan or AJK.
- They must have passed the GTS or NTS test.

- Students must have completed their 12 years of education.

USA-PAK Knowledge Corridor HEC Scholarships for PhD
This scholarship program was initiated back in 2015 with the collaboration of Pakistan and the USA in which they planned to send ten thousand Pakistani scholars to the USA for their PhD degrees for the next ten years. The major goal of this scholarship program was to increase the number of efficient and capable PhD scholars and faculty members in Pakistan’s higher education institutes.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must have nationality of Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Must have completed 16 years of education with first division.
The age limit for regular faculty members is 40 years while for others is 35 years.
