Middle Tech Program: Empowering Youth by CM Punjab

The CM Punjab Skill Development Program 2025 was one great leap toward attaining better job opportunities among the youth in Punjab, with the help of vocational training in the advanced technology fields. Inaugurated by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Middle Tech Program will help equip unemployed young individuals with better employability skills in the field of Information Technology and related fields. Middle Tech Programme is an innovative education program focused on developing ten technical middle schools within Punjab. Structure of the Middle Tech Program

The Government of Punjab has started it under the orders of the Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz Sharif. It stands at the forefront of facilitating class VIII to X middle school students by integrating academic education with skills. Its core objective is to practically equip and skill the students, which are highly demanded in the job market, and get employed upon completion of studies.

Technical Disciplines of Middle Tech Programme

As we know, the middle tech program is part of CM Punjab Skill Development program. It will afford training in a wide range of technical specialties, including but not limited to the following: 

Information Technology: IT courses shall be added to include essential programming and cybersecurity capabilities, plus data management.

Graphic Design: Training shall include ways of digital design and techniques that are required to work in both media and advertising.

Electrical Engineering: It covers the training in electrical systems and maintenance.

The module covers basic and essential skills within the building industry, bringing forth plumbing and general maintenance of the building.

Establishment of Technical Schools

Following is an overview of the main objectives of the Middle Tech Program:

1.Academic and Technical Training

It mainly focuses on the creation of a well-rounded student in both theoretical academics and mechanical hands-on experiences. This way, the institution ensures that its graduates are not only theoretically good but also practically prepared to take up various responsibilities within the fields. 

2. Enhancing Employability

The initiative has been tailor-made to enhance employability among the youth in Punjab. With a bias toward Terminal Skills already in high demand in the job market, it tries to stem unemployment rates among the youth. This aim is very important, especially when looking at this region where many youths fail to secure employment because of a lack of necessary skills. 

3. Reducing Educational Imbalances

It also wants to bridge the gap in education within the disadvantaged communities of Punjab. With a literacy rate that hovers between 60% and 63%, most of the children deny themselves opportunities for quality education because of economic obligations.
